A Full Day Thimphu Cultural & Happiness Tour

monks tashichhodzongIn morning, visit animal sanctuary where the national animal of Bhutan, the Takin, is found in captivity. Walk around the BBS tower which is also known as the “romantic point” and lovers often come here to look at the panoramic view of the Thimphu valley. En route visit Nunnery temple. You can show your devotion here by praying with the Buddhist nuns.

Visit the Folk Heritage Museum where the cultural lifestyle of the ancient Bhutan has been preserved.

Visit the Zorig Chuksum “School for Thirteen Traditional Arts and Crafts”  followed by a visit to Textile Museum, Handicraft Emporium  and some local shops for antiques.

Visit the General Post Office. You can create a personalized postage stamps by your own photo for souvenir or sent home on a post card.

In the afternoon; drive to Buddha Gang, which offers a spectacular view of Thimphu city. This giant Buddha-statue overlooking Thimphu is one of the biggest in the world. Walk to the Happiness Garden 500 meters along a beautiful nature trail to plant various species of trees like Rhododendron, Maple, Oak, Cheery & Blue Pine. In advance we will keep your pit dug, saplings ready with your name placard. The placard will have your name and address and the photograph of the growth of your ‘Happiness Tree’ will be mailed to you quarterly. (Fees Nu. 300/ $5 per tree/ It is complimentary from our company)

Visit the Tashichhoe Dzong, the main secretariat building, the office of the King and Throne room and also the house of the State Monastic Body.

Thimphu CityVisit the Farmer’s Fresh Market. Tens & hundreds of locals from various villages gather here to sell vegetables & fruits.

After evening tea, witness an archery match played by the locals with lots of hue & cry! Archery is the national game of Bhutan and it is also one of the best ways of expanding your public relation.

Leasurely Walking-tour in the city and then dinner in gho & kira (national dress) if interested/ cultural performance alongside bonfire. You can learn or try some traditional dance with the dancers. Overnight Thimphu (Alt; 2320m)
