A Day Trip to Tang & Ura Valley

ura tangAfter breakfast; drive up the hill on the farm road to Tang valley and visit the mystical Ugyen Choling Palace. Ugyen Choling is a national treasure. Its remote location makes it the less frequently visited historical sites in Bhutan.

After lunch at Ugyen Choling Palace, drive down to visit Tang Rimpoche’s temple and Nunnery.

En route, short hike to Menbar Tsho (the burning lake). This lake is the holiest lake in the country and is believed to be a wish fulfilling lake.

Continue your journey to Ura valley. One of the oldest villages of Bhutan located at an elevation of 3100m.

Stroll around Ura village and hop into few friendly villager’s home for tea and chit-chat. The people here still live a semi-nomadic lifestyle by herding yaks and sheep.

In interested you can hike up to Sherthanla pass where you will be picked up by your transport. (1 hr walk)

In evening, drive back to Bumthang. Overnight Bumthang (Alt; 2600m)
