Overview

Fly fishing in Bhutan’s pristine freshwater rivers offers a unique and thrilling adventure for anglers. The country's clear, cold rivers, such as the Paro, Thimphu, Haa, and Punakha, are rich with brown and rainbow trout, making them ideal for fly fishing. The rivers’ untouched beauty, set against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayas, provides an unmatched fishing experience. In addition to fly fishing, Bhutan also offers opportunities for targeting larger species like mahseer in the Punakha River. This type of fishing presents both a challenge and excitement, attracting anglers looking for something different. Bhutan’s rivers remain largely undiscovered by mass tourism, offering solitude and tranquility for those seeking an authentic fishing experience.
