Amazing Bhutan Just come back from a 8 days trip in Bhuthan with Maebar travel. One of the most beautiful trip I had. Tsering, the owner of the company, has been able to organise an itinerary that allowed us to discover the Bhutanese culture, religion, nature and gastronomy even in the short time we had. Dorji (our guide) and Dechen (our driver) were amazing. They performed their job very professionally but at the same time they were great company and allowed us to make some small change to the plan to fit our requests. By the end of trip we felt like having a road trip with friends! I knew almost nothing about the country but Dorji answer every single question I had (and they were a lot). Also the Bhutanese people were all super kind and the food was very good! Overall Bhuthan surprised me in a very positive way! A highly recommended trip and if you plan to go just trust Maebar travel. You will not be disappointed!

Great tours, great staff I really enjoyed my tour. Both my guide and driver were wonderful, however as a solo on a group tour that no one else booked it wasn't what I was after (not the company's fault). The guide was extremely thorough, and adapted the meals to suit my request for more local cuisine, and was excellent when I had a bad dizzy spell when hiking. The before tour info was very good and helpful, extremely responsive although it was a bit strange when I was still getting text messages randomly after the tour had finished. I feel like the service and hotels were of outstanding quality, and my only issue is really with the way the country forces you to take organised tours where possible and that results in a tour where you don't feel like you see anything genuine, rather very touristy places that all the other tourists are at. It would be nice if tours could allow staff to join the passengers at meals etc so solo travellers don't end up alone most of the time.

November 2019 visit to Bueatiful Bhutan with Maebar Travel I took a solo 11 day cultural tour with Maebar in November 2019 travelling to locations between the Haa valley, Paro, Thimphu, Phobjika valley and out to Bumthang.I found Bhutan to be a beautiful, peaceful & tranquil country, which largely retains it's charm by resisting a lot of the changes brought by modernisation. The roads can become a little rough in some areas, meaning travel over seemingly short distances can take a long time, but the dramatic mountains and valleys are so stunning that I didn't mind slowing to a crawl. Driving over Bhutan's mountain roads bring changes in scenery due to the different vegetation at different elevations, so even on my 11 day tour I did not get bored of the changing view out of the car window.Hotels were all really nice, mostly beutiful wooden architecture which has a different feel than the concrete box hotels I am used to in many countries - some of them are in fairly remote locations meaning there is not really anywhere to go in the evening. Not all of the hotels have TV, but internet was always available. However, it pays to have a good book.I found that food at restaurants along my travels was all good, but tended to cater for the international traveller. Traditional Bhutanese cuisine can be quite spicy with heavy use of chillies and I found there seemed to be a concern about serving these dishes to tourists, but I like spicy food and my guide was often able to obtain 'real' Bhutanese dishes for me.My guide Tshering ("Spring") was full of facts - very knowledgeable of Bhuddism and was able to tell me great detail of the tales depicted in paintings in the monastaries, he also recounted a lot of the history of Bhutan and it's royal family, as well as being familiar with a lot of the trees and plants along the hikes that we took. He had a good sense of humour even on the days that had quite an early morning start! My driver Tenzin always made me feel in safe hands, he tackled the winding mountain roads and the other cars along them with confidence and expertise from many years of experience. It was great that he also joined us for the hike up from Chele la pass rather than wait in the car for our return.Maebar arranged for me to go rafting and also get out on a mountain bike along a nice country road following the river out of Thumpu - I felt that there were good options for flexibility if I wanted to switch up the itinerary. I managed to get out to Karaoke, a nightclub, and a dreyang. The owner, Tsenrig, even took me out for dinner one evening, which was a great personal touch. Thanks to all at Maebar for making my trip to Bhutan such a fantastic and memorable experience.

Professional and reliable tour company A professional company, flexible and reliable. Karchung and Karma were a pleasure to spend the tour days with. Karchung was a very knowledgeable guide and Karma a safe driver, who was flexible enough to stop frequently whenever i wanted to take a photo! I liked the fact that the schedule was flexible so i could see the best places to visit, at the best times of the day and with the advantage of favourable weather! I learnt a lot about the wonderfully kind people of Bhutan. The scenery is a bonus.

Excellent tour guide and driver! It was our first trip to Bhutan for my hubby and myself and the whole trip was well planned and memorable.Tshering Jamtsho was an experienced and knowledgeable guide who has gave detail explanation of each cultural visit. He is also an experienced trekker who took great care of us during each of the trekking. During these 6 days together, we shared many memorable and happy moments which is magical and unbelievable. Driver Tenzin is also a very experienced driver and we know we are in good hands throughout the trip. Although he looked strict during the first few days, but after getting to know him better, we realised he is also a fun loving guy who will always gave a contagious laughter each time.We will certainly be back soon. 🙂

Excellent Service! I booked my tour with Maebar Travel because out of the 4 tour companies I contacted they put together the most professional itinerary which they tailored to include the experiences I wanted. They were also very responsive and easy to work with. When I broke my ankle and had to postpone my trip, they were very understanding and took care of everything so that I could rebook with them without any cancellation fees (except for a $25 airfare rebooking fee). The guides that we had were very knowledgable, professional, and fun. Bhutan is a destination that for some is a trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend Maebar Travel to ensure a smooth trip filled with wonderful memories.

Great guide and driver We enjoyed a comprehensive 10 day tour of Bhutan with maebar travel. The guide was very informed. We were interested in birdwatching and saw over 50 species. The vehicle was comfortable with good viewing skylights. Our driver was very good and we always felt safe and he understood our humor! Bhutan is an incredibly beautiful place with such an interesting history. The hotels we stayed in were all very nice. Three meals a day is a lot to eat.

Experience the smile of true happiness This is our first trip to Bhutan, and it is also the many first experiences of our travel journey: First time to experience snow fall; First time to see water in tumbler frozen into little iceberg; First time to ride pony on a mountain cliff, in which otherwise we would not able to see Tiger's Nest; First time to experience Hot Stone bath in freezing temperature, but end up feeling warmer for longer; First time seeing the starry night sky that seems so close it's within reach; First time we had a meal together with the guide and driver (Jamtsho & Tenzin), love the homey feel of the dinner at the farm house, with self-planted organic vegetable, can’t forget the taste of pumpkin soup with little bit of ginger to get rid of the coldness, the beef with glass noodles was delicious. The meal was shared with our guide and driver, over a stove/fireplace and some home brew wine, and sharing of their stories which is quite inspiring, and we will never forget his genuine and joyous smile, in this land of happiness. Appreciate Jamtsho's patience, well-spoken and understood our preference, also never compromise of the interest spots that was miss-out due to the afternoon flight arrival, rearranged the itinerary to cover all the places of interest in the itinerary within the short few days that we have. Never forget to mentioned about the nice heritage hotels that we stayed in Thimpu, with delicate interior and exterior design; Especially the one in Paro, so spacious and well located with nice view of the sunset over the hill and river, right in front of our window. Thanks to Maebar Travel for all these special arrangements to make this exotic and magical place even more memorable.
