Marang Jungle Camp

Marang Jungle Camp is a community-run eco-lodge located in Marang village in Zhemgang, Bhutan. It was set up by local river guides to promote sustainable tourism and provide economic benefits to the nearby community. The camp sits close to the Marangdut tributary and is near the Royal Manas National Park, offering guests easy access to pristine natural surroundings.

The camp features about ten traditional-style tented rooms with thatched roofs, designed to give visitors a comfortable yet rustic experience. Each tent is simply furnished and nearby facilities include modern bathrooms and showers. There is a common dining area where guests can enjoy local Bhutanese meals, sometimes prepared with wild seasonal ingredients.

Surrounded by dense forests rich in wildlife, Marang Jungle Camp is a popular spot for birdwatching, with over 200 bird species in the area. Visitors can take part in activities such as fly-fishing, river rafting, cycling, short hikes, and swimming in the nearby stream, all of which allow a close connection with nature.

The camp was created to support the local community after traditional livelihoods like mandarin farming became less viable. It has grown into a successful example of community-based ecotourism that balances conservation with tourism, giving travelers a chance to experience Bhutan’s subtropical jungle in an authentic and sustainable way.
